Default representing an ace? what\'s the plan?

this is happening to me a lot. say i have KQ or KJs in CO or Button. I open-raise, get called by button or sb or bb. flop is ace-high and i miss. it's checked to me. i bet and get a caller. let's say it's a typical player, a little loose and a little passive PF <10%, AF <1.5. what's the plan? check-fold?

i usually bet the turn again and check the river UI, and cry when he calls down with his flopped pair of 2's

If you have position on a blind, I bet-fold the turn ui and hope to check behind ui on the river. Not having position (CO vs btn in your post) is trickier, but against an opponent like that, I'll bet the turn and c-f the river. If he's that passive, he'll often check behind on the river even with an Ace because he's worried that his weak ace is weaker than my weak ace. Also, often as not, he has some other piece of the board and will fear our weak ace.

I can't tell you the ideal play, but I can tell you my recent experience.

4 times today, I was in the basic position you describe. The first time, I had an Ace came on the flop and faced just the BB. I bet the flop, he called. Bet/called the turn. I bet the river, and he folded. I don't know what he had, but I'm guessing either nothing, or low pair. I had King high.

The next three hands were similar, except I checked the river. 1 person bet back at me and I folded, and the other two checked through. I lost all three of these hands.

I have to wonder, had I bet the river, could I have gotten one of these three to fold? If so, wouldn't this be the best play?

I wonder out of ten average players, how many would fold the river with a low pair facing a bet to them?
