Kane,

I've read a lot about you and checked out your site and obviously you are a talented NL player and I was wondering what helped you the most in terms of getting better since day 1? I think I read somewhere that you said Super/System helped you the most in terms of book knowledge and obviously experience helped you more but are there any other methods you use or used to help you improve?

Maybe Zen meditation or building a really, really big bankroll before moving up so you have a greater edge in specific games a la Mahatma? I believe one reason he dominates high-stakes NL games is because he has a bigger roll than most who play that game so he's able to push people around more because of that psychological factor whereas scared money or shot-takers might be playing a little worse.

I know these questions are really general and you probably received tons of [censored] like this before, but I'm trying to improve and any info you can shed will be appreciated.

I would have just checked the river in one. Fold the other two.

It's definitely Zen meditation. No question.

hand one:
I actually like the river bet better than a check here because often in these blind vs. blind battles online the opponent will talk himself into calling with a worse hand.....you fold to the river raise of course.....the only way I might like a river check better is if your opponent is really the type who likes to bluff-raise (doesn't seem like that sort of situation though) or you had him squarely on a draw.....

hand two:
ayy.....100 BB stacks suck.....once you raise preflop and get three callers, the pot size is real uncomfortable to be leading with a drawing hand with.....don't feel like doing the math, but it seems close for a call off the top of my head....no, well, I guess you're getting about 4 to 1 including implied - which really isn't the right price and plus, if you call, half your stack is now in the middle.....I guess you could've either underbet the pot on the flop, or I suppose you could've just said f it and bet the pot with the intention of commitment - in which case just stick it all in there, you don't have any fold equity so just pray your opponent has KQ and that you have 12 clean (very unlikely)....

hand three:
yeah mostly a fold here.....does depend a little on who the opponent is and what your image is, but in this situation because of the third man in it seems unlikely to be a spot where villain would be making a move.....which makes it all the more great if he is......

I am playing $5/10 until I can rebuild my bankroll after changing Party accounts. They will only let me deposit $2,000/wk and my IMG-Pay checks take a week to clear.

I agree that having a big bankroll is a huge advantage to Mahatma. Alot of players will play until they are broke. So even if they go up big, they will eventually run it down to zero. Imagine if you are playing a tourament and one player has an unlimited number of chips. If these players dont stop playing over their bankrolls, they will end up losing it all back. The pyschological factor is there too, although it might hurt Mahatma at times because the money means less to him then to other people, making it easier for him to tilt(this may or may not be true).

practice makes perfect. the more hands you play the better you will play. study your hands of course and try to learn from your mistakes and from other players. dont tilt.
