What book should I listen to next
Thus far my membership with www.audible.com has allowed me to listen to "A People's History of the United States" and "A Short History of Nearly Everything" during my commute. I'm surprised by the fact that it's taken me all month to get through these two; I guess I underestimated exactly how much time I spend in the car. Anyway, up to now, I've put these titles in my wishlist:

Also worth noting is that some of these selections are too ambitious, with regards to their length. Given what I know now about how quickly I can get through material, selecting something like My Life unabridged (50 total hours listening time) might not make sense. Sadly, there are basically no poker books available for download.

If I had to choose one, I'd go with Dostoevsky. How did you like Zinn's book btw? Eye-opening, eh?

[/ QUOTE ] I appreciated the thrust of the message, and while it was indeed eye opening, and did make me distrustful of the government, I thought it went a tad overboard. What I mean is, it did so to the extent that it's credibility became suspect, and became so much agenda-pushing. The author did alot of 'quote one random person', as if it were proof of the public's general attitude overall towards some issue. Admittedly, the author acknowledged the slant was an intentional response to centuries of history otherwise slanted in favor of the oppressors, but it still detracted from the experience, IMO. It's completely unrelated subject matter, but I thought I'd mention I'm enjoying Short History of Nearly Everything signifigantly more. I found Damon and Zinn to be a bit dry, whereas the narrator of SHoNE is amazingly adept at delivering the book in a conversational tone. And the subject matter is more personally interesting to boot (Science >> Politics).

And get rid of these too: [ QUOTE ] My Life, Volume I (Unabridged); Bill Clinton My Life, Volume II (Unabridged); Bill Clinton [/ QUOTE ] If you're going to listen to a 900-page biography of somebody, listen to a biography of someone worthwhile like Tesla or Feynman or something (I couldn't find James Gleick's bio of Feynman, "Genius", but they do have two autobiographical books of Feynman's, "Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman" and "What do YOU Care What People Think?", both of which I highly recommend...this isn't partisan, btw: I would have advised getting rid of Bush's memoirs too :P)
