Default Foxwoods Poker Trip? Help!

Hello friends.

I have been planning a 4-day trip to Boston for quite sometime, and I'm going to be there from Thursday afternoon until Sunday afternoon next weekend (Aug. 11-14). The highlight of my trip is going to be a trip to Fenway Park on Friday night to see the Sox vs. Sox game, but ...

I would very much like to play in the Friday morning, 8 a.m. No-Limit Hold'em tournament at Foxwoods. However, I have a couple of problems:

1) My friend that I'm visiting doesn't have a car, so if I want to go, I'm going to probably need to rent a car or catch a ride from a fellow 2+2er.
2) Our tickets for Fenway are for Friday night's game which, I believe, starts at 6 or 7.

So, my questions to the friends of this forum are two-fold:

1) Is anyone from the greater Boston area planning on playing in Friday morning's $35+15 tournament, and if you are, may I ride to and from the tournament with you. If I can ride, I'd be happy to pay for half of your gas and either buy you breakfast and/or lunch.
2) If I play in the 8 a.m. tournament, will it be possible to make it back to Boston by about 4 p.m. Like I said, I'd love to play, but my buddy bought our tix for Fenway a while back, and I can't miss the game.

If anyone here can help me out and/or give some info on when the Foxwoods tournament would end, I'd appreciate it.

Either respond here, or PM me and maybe we can work something out.

I figure since I'm going to be so close to Foxwoods, I can't afford NOT to play ... but I need a little help.

Thanks in advance,

yoadrians

greyhound runs like 5-10 buses a day from south station directly to foxwoods for something like $25 r/t, and it's about a 2 hour ride. I've taken it many times, it's not bad.

Yes, I guess a bus trip wouldn't be the worst idea in the world. I just think it would be more fun to go with another 2+2er and have a little coversation ...

And the reg. for the tourney starts at 6 a.m. ... do you think there's a bus that leaves around 2 or 3 a.m.? Is there any way to find out?

Schedule works out great ... but the fare is $56 r/t.

I think I can do better with a rental car ...

use the "CASINO" rate when booking online. that knocks it down to $24 round trip, plus with the matchplay and keno tickets you get upon arrival, you're travelling virtually for free.

also nice to have the flexibility of your own car though. if you can get under $100 for 24 hours and gas I would personally do it. all depends on how one chooses to spend one's own money.

I hear you there ... plus, if I bust early/last deep into the tournament, I won't have to worry about waiting for/rushing to a bus.

Still, though, I'd love to go with a fellow 2+2er from the Boston area ... someone who knows Foxwoods and, frankly, I think it would be more fun this way.

But if I have to rent a car, I'll rent a car.

just one last detail based on your last response.

casino bus tickets are generally open-ended. greyhound doesn't technically care what TIME (or even what DAY) exactly you leave from boston and/or foxwoods. one half of your ticket is good for one way, the other half for the other way, and you can pick any bus time you want. so if you want to take an earlier or later bus that what you originally planned, there's no reserved seats. you might ask foxwoods to e-mail or fax you the entire weekly schedule in advance so you know what to expect, just in case you're finished at 11pm only to find out there are no buses between 9pm and 3am.

I still say rent a car if it's in your disposable savings budget.

I was planning on being there. But I thought all the 8am friday tournies were 100$. Is this a typo on the schedule or did it switch back to 60$ this week?
