Default Why are most FF League rules gay?

So my boss asks me if I want to join his Fantasy Football League this year and I immediately say yes.
Then he emails me the rules and think "maybe not".

No points for a fumble recovery on defense, 1 lousy pt for an INT. 6 pts for a TD - OK fine. But 3 lousy points for a 100-125 yard game for a RB/WR, and 3 pts for any FG? 5pts for a 50+yd FG? By that system I may as well draft a Kicker first. Three chip-shot FG's apparently equals a 120yd, 1 TD game by a WR? Also no negative points for int's thrown by a QB. A QB has to throw for 300 yards to get any yardage points? A RB that runs for 99 yds & no TD's is 0 pts...ok.

It then occurred to me that most leagues not run by me have pretty gay rules which make no sense.
Here are what the rules should be for every league:
6 pts for a TD
1 pt for every 10 yds receiving/rushing
1 pt for every 20 yards passing
-3 pts for every turnover
3 pts for every FG (who cares how long it is?)
Defense gets 3 pts for every turnover, -1 for every FG given up, and -3 for every TD given up. A D that gives up 6 points and only gets 1 turnover should be worth more than one that gives up 40 pts and forces 4 turnovers.

That is all.

Your scoring sucks as well.

4 points for passing TD
6 for running/recieving
1 point per 20 passing yards
1 point per 10 rushing/recieving yards
-2 for int
-1 for fumble
-1 for fumble lost (so if you fumble and lose, it compounds to 2)
I also think you should get .1 points per yard of field goal
-1 for all missed of course

Not bad -
It's not *that* different though.

Both systems here are lame because you're not using IDPs.

Go ahead, take a kicker first. Let us know how that works out.

I agree the system is wacky but the player values don't change too much. The value of a player is what he gives you above replacement value. If kickers in your league average 40 ppg, and the best average 50, while RBs average only 15 but the best average 40, you take THE RBs FIRST!
