Ryan:

One of my neighbors and a bunch of his buddy's invited me along for this weekend. I think that I am the only "serious" poker player in the group. I'm hoping to play as much as possible. I'll post a trip report when I return Tuesday.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm looking forward to hearing about this trip. I'll be heading to the Grand Casino over the 4th, never been there before...

Copa has $35 tourney on thursdays and another day which I cant remember.
And dont forget there are TWO Grands(biloxi and gulfport), both have different tourney schedules. Friday $90 tourneys, Mondays are rebuy tourneys(Limit in biloxi, NL in Gulfport),I think wednesdays or sundays are stud tourneys. And there is a big $200 NL tourney coming up soon.

Contact them for more details:

1-800-946-7777 ask for biloxi room, then call back and ask for gulfport

emphasis on the +

my first casino poker experience was in Feb, 1996 at the Grand (I think the Biloxi one....but it might have been the Gulfport one).

I remember this because I briefly lived in Hattiesburg...and stopped off there on my way down to Florida when I got another job offer.
I specifically remember when I moved so I know that this Grand poker experience was in Feb, 1996. I don't know how long the room had been open before then.

I played 7-card stud (didn't know how to play hold-em) and had no idea what I was doing. I played every hand and lost $300 or so in a 1-5 game while chatting away with some old-timers.

Except for playing in a mini 7-card stud tourney at an indian-casino in Tampa in 1997 I didn't play again until Feb, 2003 when I was told about online-poker and decided to give it a try. For the first couple weeks I still couldn't remember whether a flush beat a full-house or vice-versa.

They opened in 93/94, but I am not positive they had poker rooms then so I guesstimated. Did not think it was that important
