In fact I think it is pretty bad. No better hand is going to fold and it is going to be vey hard for even a donk who doesn't have a [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] to call here given how aggressive bakku has played the hand. They nedd to not only worry about someone else having made a flush but the hand that bakku has been betting all along. Yes, Hero can safely fold to a raise, but so what. The assumption here that you guys are making is that it is going to cost you one bet anyway, so you might as well bet. But by checking you may, in fact, save yourself a BB when you are beat. If Hero checks it may get checked through even though someone has a small flush (which hand would have called the bet), so Hero saves a BB. If Hero checks, it might get bet and raised so Hero can safely fold. Or, it might get bet with two overcalls and Hero might also be able to safely fold in that situation. Also, let's revisit the "Hero can safely fold to a raise" view. Hero bets, two folds, and the player to Hero's right raises. Can Hero still safely fold. With everyone else out Hero has to at least now consider the possibility of a bluff raise. Having to pay off 2 BB here when beat would just suck. In sum, I like check-calling ere and hoping to catch a bluff.

firstly, i suck at this game, so you may well be right. on the other hand, as scrub once put it in an nl thread, "People make moves on Ed all the time, but they rarely think they're making a move. His physical appearance, playing style, and insistence on chattering during hands all insure that he gets more action than he knows what to do with from people with stuff like missed overcards." maybe my table image has something to do with this being a value bet for me and not for you?
