The reason I don't like this is if he flats calls and I hit my flush on the turn there is no way I get paid unless he has the K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Even with the K high flush, I wouldn't get much out of him.

It looks like alternatively you’d rather push into a made flush or Ax [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] redraw.

Some % of the time you'll take the pot down on the flop.

So the consensus is, bad call pre-flop good bet on the flop?


He flipped red kings, I hit a club on the turn and took it down. So I was a slight dog when I pushed but with the chance he folds... +EV?

I prefer check-raising here, for a bunch of reasons.

1. your fold equity if raised is much smaller due to stack size
2. it avoids the scenario where you are called, miss turn and have tough decision
3. it avoids the scenario where you are called, hit clubs and get nothing more
4. the chances the other 2 put money in greater
5. it could get checked around so you see a free turn

No. It was a fairly loose call looking back at it. I made the odd call like this sometimes because I know that I'm perfectly fine laying down a pair of aces. I'd need 2 pair or better to continue post flop.

Dont call looking for 2 pair or better. Are you gonna c/f an ace or a 10 on the flop. No, you will lose more money to find out you are behind. The money you lose does not make up for the money you win, since I assume, given his range, you rarely stack him on a A10x flop.

Going allin on the flop is +EV regardless. You're about 46% to win against an overpair to the board (except aces, of course).

I don't like the call preflop given that you are OOP and put him on a range of hands that mostly have you dominated. I think the flop play is good though.
