Why are we overbetting the pot here??? What are you getting to fold that isn't folding to a 2/3 pot bet?

Stick with the standard c-bet... save some chips when BB comes over the top. The fold is obvious, BTW.

I say more preflop, less on the flop, and depending on what you think of villain you may even want to check behind.

20k is my standard raise for 4000/8000... but on the flop i dont know why you bet the pot on the flop.. 30k would have done the same..

Nothing wrong with 20k but I probably go 22-25k in this spot, especially with antes. Hand strength and position have something to do with that. The large flop bet is much more problematic, of course.

This is a very scary board to play against a large stack big blind. You could be facing all kinds of made hands and/or draws that have as many outs as your outs to an overpair. I would save the chips on the flop and check/fold.

Agreed - you took your stab with A high before the flop, you didn't hit, check/fold, move on.

I hate this situation myself, right now it's probably one of the hardest for me.

I think you overbetthing the flop like that (about the pot) looked weak to the other guy, that's why he pushed.

I think I bet 2/3 the pot, or check there, in that order.

edit: after reading responses, I also think the PF bet was a little weak. Being UTG w/ AQ sucks, I like to bet 3x or maybe even 4x the BB there. 20k w/ AK UTG would be fine, but AQs is right on the other side of the line for me where I feel I need to bet more to protect my hand.

Check behind on the flop. Why play a big pot against another big stack with Ace high. Take the free card and go from there.

I don't feel I have the right to comment on your suggestions in any way after last night but...

Because a cont. bet has a good chance of taking it down, and because a check behind is just asking villian to bet big on the turn and hero has to fold if he doesn't improve. I think a cont. bet works often enough here for it to be the right move.
