Default 15%

John Feeny talks about the 15% rule as the "ideal" percentage of hands to play for optimum results. Are there any guide lines about how that percentage should increase as a game becomes short handed? (30% for a 5 handed game?)

Not a whole lot, but the shorthanded section in HPFAP21 is must reading if you have not read it. It shows the game theory or mathematical underpinnings for looser play. You have to loosen up to the point where the opponent doesn't have an automatic win by betting every time. But there is no definitive guide to shorthanded play. One of the reasons for the shorthanded study group Dynasty started.
