I can't even remember the last time they did it but the Pens used to have a couple games a year where they'd open the roof. It's been years since I remember them doing this.

A friend of mine who went to Pitt several years ago said you could get Pens tickets cheap if you were a student. Is this the case? I want to go to a couple games, I've never been to a hockey game but like watching on tv so it would be cool to go.

Edmonton and Montreal had a game in Edmonton's outdoor stadium in 03-04 - the temperature was about 0 F or colder.

There was a matchup between the old greats of both teams, then a real game.

Yes, tickets were like $20 for students 1 hour before the game. It was called Student Rush. Not sure if they'll do it this year though as so far they've only sold season tickets and have sold more tickets for this year than they did for the whole season they last played.

That was a fun game to watch, forutnatley I had CBC at the time, because I don't think it was broadcast in america. I just remember watching everybody freezing & Theodore wearing a winter cap underneath his mask.

In 2001 Michigan played Michigan State in Spartan Stadium (outdoor football stadium) in front of more than 74,000 fans, the largest crowd in hockey history. The teams skated to a 3-3 tie with current NHL players Adam Hall & Mike Camillari each scoring a goal. Ryan Miller played goal for State. Once again, I think this game was only broadcast on Fox Sports Detroit, so most of the world didn't now about it.

It's not outdoor life channel anymore. It's just OLC.

And they still got $135M for two years or something like that, which is pretty good considering. Comcast is a big big company, they can do good for the NHL if they do it right.

I definitely had the CBC feed, either ESPN2 or MSG (local network) picked up the game. The real game wasn't that great, but seeing the old-timers out there was something - I hadn't seen most of them play at all. Larry Robinson and Stephane Richer still had it.
