Default QQ line check

Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (8 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. CO posts a blind of $0.50.
UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, Hero raises, 2 folds, Button calls, 2 folds, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls.

Flop: (10.50 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 players)

Flop CC + this screamed set to me at the time, but it seemed a little suspicious.. wouldn't a normal villan wait until the river to raise his set and not face people with 2 cold?

Turn: (11.25 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players)
UTG checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero checks, Button bets, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, Hero calls.

River: (15.25 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players)
UTG checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero checks, Button bets, UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 18.25 BB

Did I play this well or should I have put more bets in at some point?

I think there's a case for capping the flop. It helps to have a read on button. His 3-bet could just be some positional move with top pair, or two pair. He could also be juicing with the flush draw. We shouldn't give up yet.

We should be betting this turn. If villain raises, then I think we shutdown and call to the river. Either way, we want a showdown, and can make notes on villain's play.

Your line isn't bad, but i'd rather donk the turn. You're now beating 64, and someone could be betting/raising a draw (in which case you don't want to give a free card) or a lesser overpair (77-JJ). If Button raises again, he faces the field with two cold, and everyone who folds improves your equity somewhat in this large pot.

While i agree with the rest of your advice (since it coincides with mine ), capping the flop sucks. No one will fold for one more bet, and we're bloating the pot while we hold one pair and a BDFD. Just call and re-evaluate on the turn.

I like a turn donk bet as well. You may have a beat with your higher two pair. I could easily see him showing 77-TT on the river. If he raises just call down.

I think calling down it's fine. Sometimes you're gonna be surprised when Button shows a busted flush draw or K6o for one pair but that's just what it takes for it to be profitable. And IMO you will be definetly good here more than once every 18 times.

UTG's play seems very strange. I wonder what he bet the flop with and then called 2 more before check/calling all the way?

I don't think I would cap the flop but I can't argue with buzz either

Just realized UTG folded river.

grunch

Without reads, it's tougher.

Anyway, I cap the flop. Button could have CC'd with TT, 99, 88, 77 which are all overpairs to this board. He also may have any two spades. AJs, AQs, KQs come to mind. I almost always assume a late position flop re-raiser is pushing his flush draw or OESD. I doubt the OESD with that flop.

I bet the turn and call a raise. By checking, you've given the button just what he wants if he raised the flop to take the free card. If he raises you to put two BB's to the others, then I'd worry a bit. Right now I'd still think I was WA and bet the turn.

River plays differently with flop cap and turn lead.
