1) Why does it have to be mason?
2) Why do you think he would hold the money? It is too risky for him. If anything went wrong he wouldn't want a bad mark like that on 2+2.
3) Here are the people, I would feel comfortable holding the money and who I think would: Sublime, Dynasty, DougOzzzz, ThatPFunk (sp?), and Clarkmeister.

Interesting, do you consider the impact on marketing and merchandise sales? I have no idea how to quantify the first nor how large the second is. I'm more familiar with the business side of European soccer where selling jerseys is big business. In baseball I'm sure it's not as big but probably has some effect. This would also vary by team. I'm guessing that Johnny Damon had a much bigger marketing effect on the Red Sox than he'll have in New York. Basically for a huge team adding another famous player will have less effect that it would on smaller teams (not that Boston is in any way a small team).
