If the question is what do I think of people getting up and walking away, I think it's no big deal and nothing needs to be done about it. Let people play their hands the way they want to and don't tie their hands with restrictive rules.

We've seen several examples of people walking away from the table after a hand and not watching the flop, turn, and river cards being dealt.

I don't mind when people move all in and stand up.

Walking away from the table to talk to the crowd is somewhat annoying, but it's not that big of a deal.

It's probably very annoying to a player who's poker game revolves around physical tells.

I think you might prefer watching arm wrestling instead. Or perhaps the WWE or something. Then again I think they wear masks there, which is kind of chickenbleep.

I hope nobodys game revolves around tells..but couldn't getting up from the table be cosidered a tell?

Great video: The 1998 WSOP ME was heads up between Scotty Nguyen and Kevin McBride. McBride was a newb who won a seat in a satellite. McBride pushes all in. Scotty is staring at the table and McBride stands up, walks over to the Tournament Director, and says he has to go to the bathroom. The TD obviously has never heard of such a thing, but finally says OK. Scotty misses this, looks up at McBride's empty seat, looks around, no McBride. Scotty says, "Where he go? WHERE HE GO??"

Scotty sits there steaming, and McBride strolls back in through the crowd, saying, "What happened? Did you call, Scotty?" Scotty calls and loses, and continues to steam.

Classic last hand: Scotty has the big stack, and both players have a lot of chips in the pot, and the board is 99888. Scotty pushes all in. He stands up with a beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other (the olden days) and says, "You call, gonna be all over, baby." That makes up McBride's mind, and he calls and says he plays the board. Scotty shows a 9, and it's all over, baby.

As to the question, my thought is that leaving the table is poor etiquette. But then I also think that it is poor etiquette to jump up and down, scream, yell at the dealer to give or not give a certain card, high-five 47 different people when you hit the river, bitch about donkeys drawing out on you, etc., etc. I'd like to see a rule that you can stand but stay at the table, but that's not likely in an age of declining etiquette and civility.

Decline of etiquettes and civility but increasing prize pools - which would u choose? I think it's a great trade off. heh heh

Obviously the whole game doesn't revolve around tells, but for lots of players it is a huge chunk of it. Jen Harmon for example says she uses tells much more than odds and such.
