Dre Bly says...
re: Mariucci's firing:
"We're all at fault, but I just feel like Joey [Harrington]'s been here four years, and being the No. 3 pick in the draft, he hasn't given us anything," Bly told the paper. "He hasn't given us what the third pick in the draft should give us." what a douche. stuff like this belongs in the locker room, not in the papers. I think this lack of discipline comes from the top: Matt Millen. I never understood why he was hired in the first place, and really have no idea how he has hung onto his job. |

I think this lack of discipline comes from the top: Steve Mariucci.[\quote] Millen dosn't really interact with the team. I had a conversation earlier today about this and comments like this are proof of a badly coached team. Millen sucks, don't get me wrong, But Maruicci wasn't good either. |

Re: Dre Bly says...
ever since Millen took over, the Lions have had the worst record in the NFL. Coincidence?

Re: Dre Bly says...
Millen may not interact with the team very much, but he is responsible for the actions of his players/coaches. he is also responsible for setting the 'tone' of the organization.
Also, I think his interaction is more than you might think. he is involved in all contract negotiations, all team policies re: the media, all player choices, etc. if he's not involved very much, it's b/c he chooses not to be, not b/c his job doesn't demand it. but I agree, Mariucci probably sucked also. I'm a Pats fan, and haven't really got to watch the Lions very much. all I know is that Millen keeps picking WR's in the first round, which makes fans happy, and loses football games. I can't think of a great personal move he has made. |

(And their record has nothing to do with second rate overpaid CBs --that, I agree, is Millens fault--calling out fifth rate overpaid quartebacks--also Millen's fault.) |

Re: Dre Bly says...
Well, David Carr was the #1 pick that year. So by Bly's standard the Texans should be even better.
And Bly is total idiot. Its not like Harrington was going to the press saying [censored] would be better without Mariucci. No, he has kept his mouth shut like a class act. Unlike Bly. |

Re: Dre Bly says...
Millen is very well know for making speeches in the locker room and getting on guys that aren't playing up to his standards. A couple years ago he went so far as to call a player a 'coward' in front of the team.
I don't know where you guys get that he isn't directly involved with the team. |
