I need to start engaging my brain before posting. That's what I get for posting at 3 in the morning. Of course I mean left.. I want him on my right. I don't hate money enough to sit in the worst seat. :P

as a left-hander, i like the ten seat. in the one seat my chips are really close to the dealer and sometimes they get knocked over. i like the one-ten seats the most because they are more out of the action and it doesn't feel like people are staring at you as much. the two-nine seats qualify for this too, but it is harder to see the board from there.

I absolutely hate the five seat. In So Cal, the table is 9 handed. The five seat is usually scrunched in to begin with so you start out with too little space. Then, you have to be careful about exposing your cards to the players on both sides.

I love the 3 and seven seat. I can see every one very easily. It is easy to look at my cards w/o exposing them. I also think it's easier to project an aggressive, confident image from this seat.

I wear glasses. Those of you that can't see the board well from the elbow seats, you may want to consider an eye exam.

3 or 8 easlily. I hate the 1 & 10 because I'm a big dude and I feel really cramped there.

I try to be on the right of the maniac

[/ QUOTE ]

Wait, you want to be on his right? So that whenever you call, you have to wonder if he's going to raise? So that whenever you play a hand with him (which is often) he'll have position on you?

[/ QUOTE ]

If he's someone who loves to raise any hand, then being on his right is fine. This allows you to lead and have him raise to face the field with 2 cold when you need protection, and check-raise to trap when you flop a monster.

[/ QUOTE ]

If he's a predictable maniac, *always* betting raising, then either being on his right or left is fine for the reasons given above, that is, that its easy to manipulate the table through his bets and raises. Being on his left is somewhat better for positional advantage, but being on his right isn't awful.

If he's an unpredictable maniac, betting and raising often but not always, you're better off being on his left. That way you have position and can use him to manipulate the table, knowing his action before you act.

Agreed - between the rake box and the toke box I end up with more brused thighs!

I thought I was the only one who liked 1 for that reason.

ive always wondered if this pisses dealers off....in my experience they seem to not mind and get a kick out of it but i still wonder since i dont usually start doing it until i'm about 8 cocktails deep in the 1-2NL game
