That's just an urban legend. I heard something to the same effect last year. I'm sure you can find the facts on google pretty easily, but I vaguely recall that in the movie, the Cubs beat out a team from Miami to win the world series.

The number of times is not a big enough sample and is not relevant as this series is independent of other series.

If the Redsox don't give up and we assume each game with NY is a coin flip, the odds of Bosox winning ALCS is 1/16 so 50-1 to win the world series sounds good to me. I wish I bet my on my Bosox, go Patriots.
