Default bad laydown?

i was playing 10/20 limit at a local cardroom. i was SB, UTG comes in with raise to 20. everyone folds to me and i look at QQ. i reraise. BB folds, UTG calls. flop comes K/K/2. i lead out, UTG reraises. i fold. i had a decent read on UTG as everytime he raises/reraises he shows the goods. i considered calling and then betting again after the turn but choose to lay it down. comments?

How about check call the flop then bet out on the turn? I love this move. Though it makes more sense if you have a smaller pair.

I would get to showdown here 90 percent of the time. I guess a fold would be OK agaist every predictable opponents.

You pretty much have to call this down.

Folding here is silly. The fact you posted this hand shows that you aren't at all confident in your read, if you were confident there is no discussion other than maybe a 'look at me' post.

you led out, he RAISED and you folded. he didn't reraise, and you probably shouldn't have folded.

I have to agree with the above people -- unless you have some insane read on him (for example, I have a buddy that plays profitably yet when he is UTG he will ONLY raise with AA, KK, or AK-suited; that's it -- he has NEVER raised preflop UTG without those holdings, not even QQ ... but, odds are, your opponent, did not have such tight-as-nails UTG standards). If it was my buddy ... I'd throw away QQ if it was folded around to me in the BB (as I've played with him for like a decade and it's practically his religion his UTG "standards") but ... anyone else, check the flop, lead out on the turn ... you're going to showdown.

Put yourself in your opponent's shoes. You have AA, AK, or KQ. You were 3-bet preflop, and the flop is KK2. You have position on the preflop re-raiser. Why would you raise this flop? AK or KQ would wait till the turn to raise, while AA would probably just call down.

The fact is that you quite possibly folded the best hand.

Default Excellent post

you put up a very good point here,

1) most typical players will wait until the turn here to raise hoping to collect 2 double bets.

the fact that he was raised on the flop would make him a big favorite here to have the best hand.
