It is appalling that some people are mentioning albums not made by the Beatles.

[/ QUOTE ]

Why is that appalling? While I believe that it's basically impossible to evaluate "music" as a whole instead of by genre, and many of the Beatles albums are valid choices, it's not like people are putting Poison or Linkin Park albums up there or something.

You're saying that selecting something by Coltrane, Miles, Hendrix, Radiohead or Dylan is appalling? As influential as the Beatles were, they're not the end all of music.

Actually, quite a good point. For the most part, the picks are quality and mostly reflect the poster's personal tastes.

Some good choices, heavily classic rock and beatles skewed but no shock there.

Surprised no mention of Moby's Play yet.

Well said. The reason is it's not here, you suggest a Beatles album, it seems to bring out legions of Beatles haters. We Beatles-lovers know it should go to either Revolver, Sgt Peppers or Rubber Soul, so who cares about the rest.

What about "let it be"??

I haven't listened to it in a long time, but Metallica Master of Puppets was always at the top of my list. Brilliant album.
