Re: sults
So I folded, and the river was an A.
Showdown was 3-handed between UTG+2, MP1, and SB. SB had KT for the Broadway, MP1 had QJ for 2 pair, and UTG+2 didn't show and I'd have to look back at the hand history for his cards. Turns out I did have only 4 clean outs, but SB held a T, so I actually had 3 outs. But what matters is that due to the size of the pot on the flop, betting accomplishes virtually nothing, and MP1 was actually lining up a check-raise on the flop with his top 2. I'm not paying 2SBs in a huge pot to see a turn card nor offering everyone 19:1 to call my flop bet. Sometimes it's right to check a flop with AK. Jason_t's IHC-winning AK hand was one (even though he screwed up and bet it), this is another. The turn is a close fold, with Mike's reasons being pretty solidly explained. |

Holding AK in position in a huge multi-way pot and flopping QJx is definitely more boring than another ingenius flopped quads hand post, something we could all definitely study hard. When you can play flopped quads well, you've definitely plugged major leaks. |

Re: My interesting AKo hand: June 12
i have to agree this is an easy fold. it also may get raised behind you on the turn.
also, if we hit a K/A on the river it may be multiple bets to showdown. It is not that clear cut. |

Re: My interesting AKo hand: June 12
The interesting part was the checking through the flop with the overcards, not the turn play. This situation often enough to get something out of it. I had recently stopped betting blindly into army sized fields after 5-6 checks with similar hand/board texture. Hopefully someone else gets something out of it.

Private Joker:
Thanks for posting this. So many times on a flop like this, I bet it just saying...hey, maybe I'll fold a couple and/or get a free turn, not really taking the rest into consideration. |

Re: My interesting AKo hand: June 12
so what do you do if you don't get the chance to check through?
do you call one bet from the SB/BB? what about a bet from UTG+2 or MP1? What about a bet and a raise in front of you (for which you're still getting 'pot odds' to call towards your gutshot but must fear a re-raise)? |
