How to handle a pissed off dealer

I saw a guy tip 50 bucks when he sucked and doubled his buy in
I tipped a dealer at the MGM after his down because he was such a great dealer, ran a fast game, asked me if I was folding ( which I was- I had turned around to talked to my friend at another table and my cards were unprtoected but still nice of him to ask) and he also immediately asked someone who made a vague hand gesture if they meant to check and I won exactly 0 pots when he was dealing.

Heaven forbid...

Seriously though, when you play live you need to kick a buck to the dealers at low limits, and be a little more generous as you go up in limits or take down bigger pots.

Happy dealers often make for looser tables, unless you're dealing with a bunch of rocks/locals.

There is absolutely nothing wrong or incorrect about your line of thinking here. It never hurts to throw around a few extra bucks now and then for "good will." Such actions usually come back to you in one way or another.

Being a poker dealer myself, I usually don't expect a tip when the pot is small..that's just part of the business, but for that dealer to be unprofessional like that is inexcuseable..My only advice is don't take care of him/her in the future...

Take a $1 dollar chip to the bathroom, get creative, then start the tipping, baby!

I've been rolling this around in my mind all morning.

If you're really positive that a dealer has been messing with you, the most effective thing you can do may be to find out who the casino manager is and write a letter, copy in the manager of the hotel.

Be curteous and business like. Mention the dealer's name, when you were there, what the dealer did, and why you think the dealer was out of line.

In the hospitality industry letters like this are taken very seriously. You will probably get a letter back from someone apologizing and telling you how the situation was handled.

However, before you write such a letter, keep in mind that it may become a copy of the employee's permanant file, and may have job-related consequences. So don't write such a letter unless you're prepared to deal with the fact that the dealer may get into some trouble.

While we're at it ..... If you think a dealer (or anyone else in a casino) is doing a super job. Write a complimentary letter. Such a letter may be worth more to that person than all of the tips you so deservedly gave to them.

Ah, yea I didn't notice the blinds were 2/5. I'd still tip on that, but as you stated, that's a personal choice and a customer i.e. player should not have to deal with any mistreatment as a result.
