Some Sites to Play \"Other Games\"
This follows up Tailgunner's thread. He asked where some of the variants are spread online. Feel free to follow up on my comments and listings.
Triple Draw The main place online for ring game triple draw lowball action is Ultimate Bet. They offer both A-5 and 2-7 with limits from penny games to high stakes. No MTTs or real money SNGs, they do have "Ultimate Points" SNGs that run once in a blue moon. 2-7 is also spread at 24h and GamesGrid. It's rare for a cash game to go at either site. I believe 24h is still running their Tuesday afternoon (evening in Europe) TD tourney. The players are generally horrible. Many of them don't realize it's a lowball game. Single Draw Lowball Planet Poker used to offer A-5 lowball, but dropped it. GamesGrid offers NL 2-7 Lowball (i.e. "Kansas City"), action sporadic at best. Occasionally GG will have a private KC tournament. Draw High Offered at several sites. Limit draw ring games can be found at Paradise, PokerRoom, and Planet. Paradise and PokerRoom always have several 5-seated tables going at the $1/$2 and up. Planet rarely has a 8-seated ring game going. Planet offers several small limit draw tournaments a day. Some are limited to a single table of 8 players, others are multi-table but rarely draw more than 25 players. Planet just added one NL Draw tournament per day to the schedule at 4:30 PM ET. I haven't gotten to play it yet. Pot limit draw is found at Planet and 24hPoker. Planet will typically have a micro-game or two going with very passive play. 24hPoker (a Swedish site with a mostly European player base) uses 6-seated tables and always has several ring games going from €0.25/€0.50 up to €5/€10 or higher. Play is weak and often crazy at the low limit tables. Beware of sharks in the upper limits. 24h is also the place for PL Draw tournaments. They typically have 3 or 4 MTTs per day that draw between 30-150 players, depending on the buy-in and time of day. They also have draw SNGs at the €5+0.50 level. Blinds go up very quickly and you can play one of these in 30-40 minutes. Pineapple I know that Crazy Pineapple is found at UB and Paradise in ring games. Action is pretty sparse. I know UB has both Crazy Pineapple and Crazy Pineapple/8. Not sure about Paradise. Wouldn't be surprised if GamesGrid has it too (they'll spread anything); would be surprised if you could get a game going. I've never seen a pineapple touranment online. Razz Razz is 7 card stud lowball, properly discussed in the Stud forum, but a lot of the Other Poker regulars play it too. The main home of online razz is Full Tilt. They have ring games, SNGs, and MTTs. 5-Card Stud A few sites spread your grandpa's favorite game, again properly discussed in the Stud forum. Limit 5-card Stud ring games are spread at Paradise (and maybe Prima?) Pot-Limit Soko (also known as Canadian Stud or Sousem) is spread in both ring games and MTTs at 24h. Soko is a variant where 4-straights and 4-flushes beat one pair but are beaten by two pair. This wrinkle tends to promote more action. Mixed Games Full Tilt has H.O.R.S.E. tournaments, currently only private. H.O.R.S.E. is a rotation game where the game is changed every level (10 minutes at Full Tilt. The games are all played limit, H=Holdem, O=Omaha/8, R=Razz, S=Stud, E=Stud/8. Flop games played with blinds, stud games played with antes. GamesGrid has Dealer's Choice cash games and tourneys. They usually have at least one DC game going. The button gets to choose the game from the HORSE choices. All games, even stud games, are played with blinds rather than antes. |

Re: Some Sites to Play \"Other Games\"
I'm probably not the best to make this post, since my reasons for playing are mostly recreational and I'm not particularly focused on building a bankroll. Most of the "Other Games" aren't terribly suited for grinding and multi-tabling, mainly because the traffic is low and most of the players are either all-around poker enthusiasts (such as many of the regulars here) that are at worst competent and at best excellent players, specialists in a particular game (such as an old-timer from the glory days of California draw) or they are curious fish who play once, get their ass kicked, and never play again. As an example, the dummies who don't know triple draw is a low game and don't figure it out the first time their boat loses to eight high usually drop a buy-in and disappear to never be seen again.
I'm not a regular triple draw player, but it is one of the "swingiest" games around and would require a pretty big bankroll to play regularly. It's pretty damn easy to quickly drop 40 BBs in this game. I haven't played draw at Paradise in several months and I've never played at PokerRoom, but when I played at Paradise there were a group of multi-tabling regulars that were grinding out a living. There is some money to be made in the bigger pot limit games at 24h if you have the skills, but beginners in draw should avoid those games like the plague. All of the other games run too rarely to be a viable way of making consistent money. The MTTs are generally too small (in buy-in and number of players) to make serious money at. |

Re: Some Sites to Play \"Other Games\"
In case this thread does get "stickied", here is a cleaner version of the post.
I've tried to compile a complete listing of all of the places that one can play "other games" online. By other games, I mean any form of poker other than Texas hold'em, Omaha, Omaha H/L, 7 Card Stud, or 7 Card Stud H/L, which are spread at almost every online room. If I missed any or if there are any corrections, let me know. I have chosen not to include "prop betting" at Party Poker as a valid game This listing only means that the game is spread. I am not promising that there is any action. By the way, Games Grid is a site that is very willing to spread or run a private tournament in just about any game you can imagine. 5-Card Draw (Limit) Cash Games: Paradise, PokerRoom, Planet, Boss Network Tournaments: Planet 5-Card Draw (Pot Limit) Cash Games: 24h, Planet Sit-and-Goes: 24h Tournaments: 24h, Planet 5-Card Draw (No Limit) Tournaments: Planet A-5 Lowball (Limit) None 2-7 Lowball (No Limit, i.e. Kansas City Lowball) Cash Games: Games Grid Private Tournaments: Games Grid A-5 Triple Draw Lowball (Limit) Cash Games: Ultimate Bet Sit-and-Goes: Ultimate Bet (Ultimate points only) 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball (Limit) Cash Games: Ultimate Bet, 24h, Games Grid Sit-and-Goes: Ultimate Bet (Ultimate points only) Tournaments: 24h Private Tournaments: Games Grid 5-Card Stud (Limit) Cash Games: Paradise, Prima, BoDog, Pokertropolis Soko (i.e. Canadian Stud) (Pot Limit) Cash Games: 24h Tournaments: 24h Razz (Limit) Cash Games: Full Tilt, Games Grid Sit-and-Goes: Full Tilt Tournaments: Full Tilt H.O.R.S.E. I started playing TD 3 weeks ago with a $50 deposit playing the .25/.50 level and I have not needed to rebuy. I built it up to 250, and then as is the case sometimes I couldn't find a game at any level except 5/10 so I gave it a shot thinking I could hold my own and I got killed. Normally whether I play .25/.50 or .50/1 I sit down with $25. When playing .25/.50 I rarely drop below $20 and .50/1 I rarely drop below $15. I guess you can compare TD to chasing a flush or straight draw. You may miss a few times but if you chase at mathematically correct rate you will win enough that it pays off. In TD you just have to pick your spots, start with the right hands, fold when you aren't getting odds to draw, bluff frequently enough and value bet. To me it's a very beatable game and if you play well it's possibly the easiest game to consistently beat. |

Re: Some Sites to Play \"Other Games\"
Unless this happened recently, Pokerroom has PL$100 and PL$200 5-card draw games, usually one or two tables at each level.

Re: Some Sites to Play \"Other Games\"
The Tain network (Eurolinx right now, eventually Expekt and others) is spreading limit 5 Stud. They also claim 5 Draw on their website, but I don't see it in the client.

I can't speak for the state of high draw, but triple draw games are fairly good once you get above the microlimits. Triple draw variance can just be ridiculious. My biggest wins and largest losses at a given limit are all at triple draw. The nature of the game attracts true gamblers which makes the games great. If your hourly rate is a big factor in deciding what to play HE is still king, but TDL can be a great second game to add variety while still winning a healthy amount. You won't be able to multitable or bonus whore much, but the games are better and the "non-bonus" compensation can be pretty substantial if you play a bunch. |
