what is the normal consequence for acting out of turn?

Usually nothing except a "Hey quickdraw! Put it back in your pants."

If someone's raising or betting out of turn, then he's only cheating themself. If it got out of hand...there would be a talking-to.

Around here, the out-of-turn actor's hand is killed and he's forced to call, dead, whatever the bet is when he would have acted in turn. But then again, my "home game" players are a bunch of nits. [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

Yeah, it sounds like you've got a pretty tight rein on things. Our game, acting out of turn is done innocently. Killing a hand would be way too much for us.
