Default Hollywood Park, CA -I\'d be surprised...

I'd be very surprised if any players from Hollywood Park casino frequent this board.... but was just wondering.

I stopped by there yesterday very briefly to eat some Pink's hot dogs and play some laggish NL $200 buy-in. Place is ghetto. Still is. The parking lot is ghetto. The inside is ghetto. Bathroom is ghetto. Arcade is ghetto. And all the levels upstairs is dark and spooky. Lots of open areas w/ no one around. Prolly cuz there's no races but I get the feeling that you can just do whatever you want and no one will notice.

I doubt I'll go back anytime soon. Maybe never.

I've played there a few times after flying into LAX and not wanting to shell out the cab money to go to commerce. It is a [censored] hole - the people are abnormally scummy (even for a casino) and the staff is mediocre at best. That said I will be donking it up at the 6/12 or the 10/20 if it goes tomorrow.

i played the 20/40 there a bunch of times

really bad players, but not enough, and commerce has 6 tables going to their 2

the 40/80 was a rock garden when i was watching

i also saw brett yungblut there, go figure

The 6/12 there used to be my regular game. Super soft.

I used to go a couple of times a week, since it's the closest cardroom to my office in Santa Monica. Commerce has gotten most of my business the past couple of months, however.

I'd concur with the general view of HP having super soft games and super-sketchy characters, including a bunch of angle shooters... eh, just scratch that last remark.

I have been there a few times. It's right down the street from my house, closest casino to me.

Never been to Commerce or the Bike though. I think I'm depriving myself. The HP games are super soft, only played 2/4 though.

Scurity is super crappy at HP, especially factoring in the neighborhood. No security personnel in the parking lot towers at all, and security inside the casino is hard to identify. I definitely get the feeling I could be shot there.

Compare that to Commerce, which is in a quiet, industrial area. Security in all parking lot towers, constant patrols, and when you walk inside you see a bunch of 6'5", 350lb Samoans in easily identifiable security uniforms. Even some of the floor people are pretty big. I've seen the security there have to tackle people before, and it is swift, uniform, and clean.

Yep I play at HP a couple times a week... scanky, dark, crappy security.

Loosey goosey games though.

I'd be interested to know how these games fair compared to games at Commerce etc.

Next time you play B&M poker, I suggest you go to Commerce. The next, next time you play B&M poker, I suggest you go to The Bike. The next, next, next time you play B&M poker, I suggest Hawaiian Gardens Casino.

Then, come back here and tell me what you really think of HP. You'll see what I mean.
