Default Straddling is money

Its Friday afternoon 3ish and I'm straddling every time it gets UTG to me.

an extremely tight player makes it $15 to go. Folds to me, I make it $30 to go. He pushes, I call :: AA.

Making people think you're a loose cannon is great, straddling is great and now you should do it too.

It does piss people off...I was pissed when I kept getting my blind straddled at the bellagio. Dude almost always raised it too.

Are you allowed to straddle in 1-2 NL?

Yep, to $4. Foxwoods always allows it.

Generally, I disagree...I think you are putting yourself at a disadvantage from the word "go."

That said, nothing unsettles a rock garden table full of sixty-somethings like a loud, obnoxious straddler.

Right, but the difference is that a straddle allows the straddler to take last action if no one raised the straddle. A blind raise, like other raises, doesn't allow you to reraise yourself.

My favorite Foxwoods dealer, Joseph the Smart-Ass, is a big hit when he recites the definition. One guy wanted to hear it each time it was his turn to straddle again.

That's a PRETTY good story, but try this one...

I am playing 1-2 blinds no limit one night and have about $200 in front of me. So does another player, but not for long...

I straddle to try and fire up the game, putting four $1 chips in front of me. I get dealt a real monster, 62o! Several are in, but no one raises. BIG mistake!

Flop is 345 rainbow. ROFLMFAO! I bet out like $15 or so, one caller, another caller, no raise.

Turn is a 5 of a fourth suit. I bet again, $25 or so, and the soon to be broke player pushes. I call. He has A5, doesn't boat up, and I take it down!

Straddling kicks ass.

At a minimum, they should have said "I have big slick no raise! I just call everyone play! I make cheap for you!" when they flat called your stradoool. That way, they'd be fully compliant with the epic and never to be matched JSD's guide to straddling.
