Default Satellite staking question

Suppose I am staking a friend for tournaments, where I get 50% of his total prize including half the buy in. ie, he enters a 20 dollar tournament, and comes in 9th place, which pays 100, i get 50 he gets 50. If I stake him for a satellite and he wins a seat into a bigger tournament, should he then still only get half of his winnings in the bigger tournament, or because now I only have half of the buy in invested, should he get 3/4ths of the winnings? Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Sounds like something you should work out in advance. I think the question is, "does he allow you to cash out before the main event?" As long as you are allowed to cash out, then he should be gettting 75% now. But really, this is something you should work out in advance.

no way... if he pays $10 for a satellite and wins a $200 seat, then OP is owed $100. he can take it in cash if they agree, or he can take it in 1/2 the value of the stakee's win in the $200 tourney.

this 3/4 number came out of the air.

But that means that i only have 100 invested in the 200, instead of say, the full buy in (which would give me half of the prize), and therefore i should get half of what i normally would get... or am i wrong?

He enters a satelitte and wins. He now owns 50 % of a 215-seat, and you own the other 50 %. That's what you have agreed upon.

Now it's up to you two to make up your mind what to do next!

Ahhhhh. I know we are supposed to agree beforehand, I'm just trying to know what this forum thinks is fair. Anyone else?

He just told you: "He enters a satelitte and wins. He now owns 50 % of a 215-seat, and you own the other 50 %."

You are "entitled" to whatever you agree upon. YOU TWO, and ONLY you two decide between yourselves what is fair. Sure, you can get advice from others what they think is fair, but please do not used the word "entitled."

I have a feeling that you will go back to your buddy and start demanding so and so because 2+2 told you that you are entitled to such and such.
