Like many people here, I goofed off with 5 card growing up (but never really played it for money, etc) But have started seriously playing NLHE this last May. It's been interesting getting to where I am, but I am just now starting to consider myself a decent player. But, I absolutely love the game, and allows me to compete.

started playing holdem live seriously in 99'- 18 years old.
started playing holdem online in november of 01' (you do the math) as for poker in general, i can't remember when i started. i remember playing draw games as a little kid with baseball cards for chips.

Amazing how about 2/3 the people who voted have been playing less than 3 years. I have been playing relatively seriously for a little over two years now and I thought I was new...
