Difference between 1/2 and 5/10 at Absolute poker.
Hey,
I've been bonus clearing at absolute lately (1/2 limit). I'm a pretty educated player (SSHE, bit of HEPFAP, forum browsing). I have 10,000 hands logged in my PT database and i'v beaten the game for 3.35BB/100 - I may be running a bit hot, but I can feel how I'm outplaying my opponents. I'd like to move up in limits at Absolute (so I can use bonuses to build my BR) - Can anyone tell me if the 2/4, 3/6 and 5/10 FR games play similar to the 1/2 level games? Any tips would be great! |

Everything above 1/2 is a goddamn rock garden there. Don't move up.

I've found the same weak-tight full ring play predominates at Absolute from $1/2 to $5/10.
However, the guys who play $5/10 are much less likely to make incorrect decisions after the flop and will play back at you much harder if they have a hand. I found the $2/4 much more profitable than $1/2 full ring, so you might just move up one level and check it out. |

1/2 is infested with bonus whores, but 2/4, 3/6, and 5/10 are infested with rocks so the different is as pronounced as it is at other sites. If you play smart, aggressive poker you can win a decent amount, but the rocks make large winrates very difficult to achieve.

2/4 is raked twice as heavily as 1/2 there so don't play that game, not sure about the higher limits there though.

The main difference is that at 1/2, the rake is capped at $2. At 2/4, it is capped at $3. According to my PT stats, rake at 2/4 6 max is 4.28% of the pot. Whereas, it is only 3.73% of the pot at 1/2 6 max. Here is the schedule from their website. $1.00/$2.00 2 or more $0.25 for each $5.00 in pot, maximum $2.00 $2.00/$4.00 2 $0.25 for each $5.00 in pot, maximum $1.00 $2.00/$4.00 3 to 4 $0.25 for each $5.00 in pot, maximum $2.00 $2.00/$4.00 5 or more $0.25 for each $5.00 in pot, maximum $3.00 FWIW, I've actually found better games at 2/4 and 3/6. The main problem for me is that they tend to break up rather quickly. |
