Default American Idol stuff

Just something that came up on the messages boards and was quickly deleted. Conspiracy??? The Constantine as Roger in Rent is all over the boards. I Dont if any of it will effect voting.

I think the Nikko Smith being Ozzie Smiths kid is interesting.

* Amanda Avila, 23, from Rowland Heights, California, sung, and lost, on a January 2003 episode of CBS' now defunct Star Search revival. She's also a onetime backup singer for Smokey Robinson (which her Fox bio notes) and a pal of Josh Groban (which her Fox bio doesn't note).

* Another Star Search vet is Nadia Turner, 28, from Miami. She appeared on the show in January 2004, winning a preliminary round before losing to the season's eventual champ--a turn of events not noted in the Fox release. The network says she most recently drew a paycheck as a bartender/waitress.

* In 2000, Celena Rae, now 29, of Fort Worth, Texas, was crowned winner of the syndicated show Your Big Break, which encouraged contestants to mimic singers more famous than themselves. (Rae did Martina McBride, which Fox won't tell you, but an Internet search will.) A contract with Hollywood Records supposedly was part of the winner's lot. But like all good aspiring Idols, Rae is not currently on the label's artist roster.

* Nikko Smith, 22, of St. Louis, is the contestant formerly known as Osbourne Smith II, aka the son of St. Louis Cardinals baseball great Ozzie Smith.

* Touted on Idol as the rock guy (or one of them, anyway), Constantine Maroulis, 29, of New York City, also is a working actor. He's toured the world in Rent--the Las Vegas Review-Journal last year said the production was "greatly hurt" by his "bland performance"--and appeared in productions of Hedwig & the Angry Inch and Macbeth.

* Bo Bice, 29, from Alabama, Idol's other rock guy, has opened for Warrant, and performed and recorded with Allman Brothers Band keyboardist Johnny Neal.

* Joseph Murina, 26, from Smithtown, New York, was crowned "Long Island Idol" by a Long Island radio station in 2003. He's also done Showtime at the Apollo, and the 1st District Court in New York's Suffolk County, where he works.

* Vonzell Solomon, 20, of Fort Myers, Florida, presumably has braved snow, sleet and hail as a carrier for the U.S. Postal Service (although maybe not so much of the snow, being based in the South and all). Last year, she released her first album/demo, My Struggle, which, in an cringe-worthy coincidence, bears the same title as Hitler's autobiography/screed.

* Mario Vasquez, 27, of New York City, starred in From Justin to Kelly--sorry, that was Justin Guarini. Vasquez, who could pass for the Idol alum, currently, in the words of the most nebulous-sounding of the Fox bios, "works with emerging artists within the New York music world." (One previously emerged artist he's worked with: Michael Jackson.)

Idol producers this season raised the upper age limit to 28, thereby inviting more seasoned performers to audition. (As an FYI, hopefuls merely have to be 28 when they audition, explaining how a trio of rickety 29-year-olds wound up in the semifinals.)

Experience is not against Idol rules. Contestants can be veterans of record and management contracts, as long as they're unsigned when they present themselves to Simon Cowell and company.

So if he loses Idol and is desperate for money he can just say he was molested. He can't lose!

Using this thread because the other is too long and clogs the front page for those who arent viewing with collapsed threads.

I dumped Mario

At 19-24 a bad week could cut him in more than half. A good week would keep him steady, and a perfect week would see a very minimal rise. The risk is just not worth it. Furthermore, even when it gets down to top 10 i dont see any single person being even at 30. If he is blowing people away at that time then maybe its closer to the right move.

The talk in the other thread about nobody having this much value this early just finally set in.

Federov is back down to 5-7 for any who wanted to buy but found he shot to 9-11 too quick for them to get in on it.

the problem is with this degree of quick valuation in the betting this year it's probable that if he stays on the mark (a likely occurance) his price won't drop but will gradually go up. by the time you 'want' him he would be 40-45, which sucks.
