Default TT with position

Interesting hand from last night, and I'm 90% sure I made the right move, but would like to hear everyone else's thought process.

Loose agressive 3/6 game 6max game. Playing fairly deep, I have 850 or so, villian has 2.8k. I raise a limper in the cutoff to 24, BB (villian) comes back over the top for 60 more. I smooth call.

Flop is 944, rainbow. BB bets 300 into 180. Your move?

Villian is a fairly tricky opponent. He has not build his stack on luck alone. We have not tangled yet, but I've been running over the table on most pots he doesn't play. We've only been sitting for about 1.5 hours together.

Your move?

Fold. I don't know what you mean by tricky but I don't call overbets w/ mediocre hands with 2 cards to come.

The re-raise pf says "big pair." The bet on the flop says "big pair protecting hand discounting possibility that you have a 9." Furthermore, maybe Villian would do this with AK but I'm not paying this price here to find out.
