Re: Slowplaying kings early streets
An argument can be made for only calling on 3rd. It is much tougher to argue not raising 4th. The problem with a pair of kings is that any ace can beat and you need to force your opponents to pay for the job. Plus, you hit a scare card on 4th so you could have tried to take that pot down right away. Kings are not a strong enough hand to slowplay in a full game. Heads up, maybe.

Re: Slowplaying kings early streets
andy, i meant a 2-play stud game, not a heads up pot. The problem with kings is that if your opponent has an Ace and an pair below you, your edge is not that great. with aces, you can wait to raise since you know if you made 2 pair, it will be the nut 2 pair.

Re: Slowplaying kings early streets
But if your opponent has an ace and a medium pair, he's going to keep betting and he's not folding to your raise. Isn't it better to see the next card cheaply, and pop him there, both getting more money in the pot with a hand that has greater equity (less cards to come) and getting the opportunity to fold if he catches obvious?
