I havent played it but I can summarize how house games work in casinos.
Step one:
Play house game
Step 2:
Lose money

I saw that game at Green Valley Ranch the other day but I have no idea what it's about. I walked right past it and played big bet Hold'em in the poker room. I won, which is probably better than I would have done if I had stopped at the big raise table.

Now to be fair guys, sometimes it's OK to play house games, even though you know it's a losing proposition. I sometimes play craps or paigow poker or blackjack for small stakes, even tho I know it's a losing play (in terms of pure EV). It's whether or not you're willing to give up a little EV for entertainment value that makes or breaks your decision to play house games. 2 hours of $2 craps with 10x odds probably costs less than a movie (in pure EV, at least the way I tend to bet), but is far preferable to me, mainly because I like to gamble, and hate movie theatres.

The thing about big raise hold'em is that I don't have any definitive numbers on the house edge, or the proper strategies to minimize said edge (if any exist). I know nothing about the game, other than green valley does spread it. I also don't know if it's any fun or not. If the vig, and the stakes are small enough, and the game is entertaining enough, I might just play it. Heck the free beers hedge the house edge a bit on table games anyway. Beers aren't free. They cost $1, more if delivered by hottie while I'm trashed.

Beers generally cost more than $1 (if you like GOOD beer at least), so you're at least hedging SLIGHTLY. If you are ga-ga for the hottie waitresses, then you're just paying for yet another "entertainment service" in the casino, aren't you... You gotta calculate things separately, hoss. If you lose $900 in a strip club, you can't blame that on the house edge at $10 paigow poker now, can you?
