Basic 4th street situation in Stud 8.
I'm still unsure of this scenario, pretty common though.
You start with a 3 card low, a few players see fourth. One player catches what appears to be an improved high hand (not a paired door card though), and bets, and it gets folded to you. How big does the pot have to be and how versatile does your low have to be (A36 with live aces, ,234, 345, 456, A27, 2s3s7 etc.) to call headsup? I'm playing with numbers from various situations but thought I'd ask here as well.

[/ QUOTE ] More confusion: this is a fourth street questions, but you only mention 3-card hands. Are we assuming you caught bad? If you catch good, call or raise (for value or a free card).

Apologies, that was totally spaced out in retrospect.
As for his board, basically it will look like JT, KQ, KJ, AsQs etc. etc. As for the hand of hero: Basically you continued to catch decent to great A364 with live aces, ,2345, 3457, A456, A257, 2s3s57 etc. etc. Also, say the Q or K pairs the door card, how strong do you need to be/how big a pot to continue HU? Thank ya.

HU, if we catch good on fourth, the decision is not whether we should continue, but rather whether we should raise. We may raise for value (e.g. four-card low + four-flush) or for a free card if we catch bad on fifth (works well against passive opponents--agressive opponents will call the raise on fourth, then bet into you on fifth if you catch bad).

Heads-up against an obvious high hand, I'll take any four-card low. If you have only a three-card low, you would need some very strong secondary possibilities, such as three to an Ace-high flush, and even there it's questionable.
