tournament play...

I have been playing mostly fr NL cash games up to now with the occasional MTT thrown in for good measure.

So far I tend to make it past the 1st and 2nd break more often than not usually with 3-4x my starting chips then it all goes horribly wrong and I usually get busted out just before or just after the money quite often to a suckout. [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

I am playing $10 +1 mostly - what tournaments should I be playing to offer the best chance of winning.

Assuming that I'm a "little better than average" what chances do I have of winning a big tourney? does winning something this big mean that you need to get very lucky at some point?

Is it better to focus on tourneys rather than playing cash games? lots of SnG's e.g ?
