bankroll for NL and amount you sit down with....
we all know the 300 BB rule for your bankroll in limit games. - do we all assume the same requirements for NL games with comparable structures (i.e. - $1800 for a 3/6 NL game)
and if so, how much do you sit down with - 10 percent? sorta thinking about how to best structure my NL run. RB |

I'm sure you need a much bigger bankroll. A 3-6 NL game is MUCH bigger than a 3-6 limit game.

Re: bankroll for NL and amount you sit down with....
i have seen recommendations in the range of 30-60 buy-ins. so for 3/6 blinds that would be $18000-$36000, assuming 100x the big blind as a max buy-in. sounds like a lot, right? well take a few set-over-set beats, and general bad luck and you could blow off a few k in no time. these #'s are just to absorb a long losing streak, like losing the last 7 out of 10 times you have played.

20 buyins should be enough, but some like to go up to 40. I think there's been a fair bit of discussion in the PL&NL forums on this topic, might be worth searching there.

Re: bankroll for NL and amount you sit down with....
$1800 is probably plenty for a 1-2 blinds, $100 buy-in no limit game bankroll, assuming you play well enough and are selective on which games you sit in.
It's not even close to enough for a 3-6 blinds game. I like 20x the max buy-in or more as a no limit bankroll. If there is no max then you have some significant decisions to make on how much you need, how much to risk on one session, etc. I say you need 20 sessions worth (or more)for such a game. al |

Re: bankroll for NL and amount you sit down with....
Good Luck to you playing $3 and $6 blinds NL with $1800. From your posts, I know you are a thinking player. From this bankroll I would give you about a 35% chance of busting out.
FWIW, my rule is: I want as much as the average player or more, and I don't want to sit with more than 2-3% of my bankroll. Am I tight? Sure, but a solid player with experience should have 20 buy-ins minimum and probably 30. A less experienced player should have 30 minimum and probably 40.
