Default 10/20 Inducing a bluff on the river

Button is very loose and aggressive preflop, and moderately aggressive postflop.

History between me and button may be relevant to this hand. In the SB he had been attempting to steal my BB the last 4 times he had the chance. He won all four encounters. Two went to showdown, one I folded on the flop and the last I folded preflop. He may have been feeling overcome with power/thinking I'm a weak tightie

River: (8.50 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks hoping to induce a bluff from a hand that wouldn't have called.

I do it for three reasons:

1) Button's play is consistent with a lone club or a K ( A K will likely both call and bet himself if checked to).
2) My play is consistent with a flush draw that didn't make it, especially since the river is a brick and no scare card. Perhaps he will bet with all hands he would have called with and then some. This last sentence is perhaps a little optimistic. I don't think he is so aggressive that he will bet A high but if he has a hand with no showdown value I think he will.
3) Because of our history I'm not sure the flop raise carries any information. There is some possibility he has no hand but if that is the case if would usually fold the turn.

I used to make this play frequently, but now I tend to bet it most of the time. My reasoning is that there are a range of hands he will call with here, any of the small pairs, and considering your recent history with him he may think you are on tilt and just betting down any 2 cards. If he has this reasoning, he may even call you with Ace high or something silly like that.

Also, if you check he will get the satisfation of seeing your cards. He won't gain any info as to how you played the hand, and for all he knows you could have been bluffing, etc.

I like your line better if a semi-scare card falls, in which case he might raise your bet if he hits it, and he has a higher chance of bluffing at it if you check. by semi-scare I mean something like a Queen, or an Eight.
