Stop and go
Here's my example of the SnG, which I use mainly in S&Gs -- for some reason gay comments like that crack me up today, sorry.
You're a danger stack in the BB with a hand like 66 or 88. A bigger stack in position raises such an amount that you can't reraise without putting in your whole stack. So, you simply call knowing you'll act before him on the flop. At the same time, you plan to push on the flop NO MATTER WHAT three cards come out. The idea is you're giving him a chance to fold a hand on the flop that he probably couldn't have folded preflop while creating the illusion that you've hit the flop, which you might or might not have. All your chips would have gone in the middle anyway, the stop-and-go just gives you a slightly better chance of winning. This is how I understand it. My apologies to Fossilman. |

Re: Stop and go
Very interesting analysis and situation. I will have to remember that and try it in the future.

Re: Ways to induce a call??
Take your $1 tip, put it on your cards and extend the cards for the dealer, clearly tipping him for your opponent's impending fold. They almost always change their mind and call. I learned it from some Asians at Commerce and it's made me tons of money.

Caro\'s point and the reasoning behind it...
Caro maintains that at lower limits, people want to call (its more fun). Therefore, they will look for reasons to call.
He says just do something... anything. Give someone a reason to call. It has been my experience that it works. |

Re: Ways to induce a call??
i didn't read closely, but i think this is the turn card. the reason i say this is cuz i was going to recommend something similar.
if you toss a chip into the dealers tray, they frequently insta-call. |

Re: Ways to induce a call??
also, did you try throwing your chips into the pot really forcefully? sounds like the kind of thing that guy in particular would notice

Re: Ways to induce a call??
i dont play nl, but i believe the best play is check raise the turn.
i could be wrong though also, i realize this wasnt the type of answer you were really looking for. but check raising is easier than putting in a big bet and trying to trick him into calling it, imho. |

Re: Ways to induce a call??
say, "I don't believe you" or "your A high won't do" .. then overbet. If he calls, seem just a LITTLE surprised/disappointed. Check-raise river.

Re: Ways to induce a call??
Read in a Caro column somewhere that if you usually bet using one hand, use both hands to put your bet out on the table. He said that your oppenent (hopefully) will notice that you are doing something differently, and then call you because of it.
