There could be an element of manhood involved in the Shana Hiatt challenge. Couldn't hurt ESPN's ratings either....

I just gouged my right eye socket with a blank tile. Now I think I have to throw the game out.

I don't know whats funnier, Cris's challenge, or the fact she only has $110 in her PS account.

Hi Tom,

I don't need more than that for what I'm working on at present, and last I heard PS isn't paying interest.

Hi slickpoppa,

When did this become a contest of testicular girth? If it is, as a woman, I'm definitely gonna lose....

Seriously, I wouldn't read anything into it more than what Paul said: he can't think of a reason he'd want to play a game of Scrabble with me (which I take to mean he wouldn't enjoy the game), and he thinks I'd cheat (which I wouldn't). That he wouldn't enjoy the game is sufficient reason to decline the wager. I'm certainly not offended.

This sort of response is actually the best possible result for illustrating another angle on the original point: namely, that some people can draw accurate inferences from their available information and some people can't. Among gamblers we usually call the latter group "losers" for short.

Default You should play her anyway paul (reasoning included)

Here's why:

You have made a sigificant effort at making her look dumb on these boards because of an offhand comment she made. Now, because of huge popular pressure (me posting play already ) she has offered you the bet.

I think that this shows character on her part even though she now probably realizes it is not a good wager for her. You should indulge all of us railbirds and play the game, even if it is for continued spite-value.

I can see why people think that manliness comes into this equation but I am not sure of your exact reasoning why you won't play -- there is probably no way you can decline without someone calling your motives into question.
