Default David Sklansky : Three-time WSOP Winner

I have only within the last few minutes discovered that David Sklansky has three WSOP victories to his name:

1982 1st Draw High $15,500
1982 1st Mixed Doubles $8,800
1983 1st Omaha Limit $25,500.

This fact should be far better known than it is. David Sklansky should put all modesty aside and have it beside his name on the covers of Two Plus Two books. The WSOP is a global brand. David Sklansky should benefit from it. He has earned the right.

If nothing else this fact should have been publicised on/in Tournament Poker For Advanced Players.

Default From a marketing-only perspective.....

would referring to something that's 20 years old be a GAIN, in your opinion?

Not belittling DS's abilities here, but he'd have to win something recently in order to use it on the books, if it's supposed to SELL the books in and of itself.

Also, Draw poker isn't played much anymore, and what is Mixed Doubles (for those of us too lazy to go hunting)?

I remember that Jimmy Connors and Chris Evert LLoyd were supposed to be a really good team.

They were until they got their asses kicked by the Martina Navratilova/Billy Jean King mixed doubles juggernaut.

Default Why David Doesn\'t Mention His WSOP Wins

He doesn't think they're very important. They took place a long time ago, in obscure, low money events. The only tourney wins that matter to Ma & Pa Iowa are the WSOP biggies, and the WPT's. I wonder if he even has the bracelets anymore, if they got them back then.

DS is also a bit contemptuous of the high luck factor in tourneys. David has a lot of flaws but insecurity about his poker skills isn't among them. Hellmuth's bleating about being a "nine time World Champion" is just pathetic, although there's more than a little marketing to go along with the ego.

David prolly could get some mileage out of putting "has won three WSOP tournaments" in his bio blurbs, but then he'd have the tiresome task of explaining what those events were.

David's only interested in winning the biggie or the WPT biggie, although he does enter other events. There'd be some media coverage and increased book sales for ye!

He also finished second to Doyle Brunson in the 1977 WSOP $10,000 buy-in Seven Card Stud High-Low Split World Championship, according to Super System.

Mixed-doubles involves a man/woman team, but I don't know how the structure works.

I'd be interested in knowing who put up David's buy-in for that event.
