You have been withdrawing funds from your account, only to redeposit right afterwards, for the sole purpose of receiving an additional reload bonus. [/ QUOTE ] That's pretty dumb of you. |

Re: Bodog lays the smackdown
You must have beenCLEARING the bonus to be able to withdraw the whole amount, and then redeposite. So if you are clearing it, who the [censored] cares. But I will admit 20% is sweet.

Re: Bodog lays the smackdown
it's an interesting point
if a reload bonus is only to encourage losing gamblers to play more, then i'm not sure that principle goes along with the ethos of responsible gambling that these guys are supposed to support as part of their Kawasaki deal if it's simply to encourage existing site members to play more at their site than at other sites, that's a fair business decision along lines that many operations of all kinds decide to make to remain or become competitive i would say they intended the latter, but they have realised they are giving too much away to some winning players and they are now trying to frighten those ones a little so that they don't "abuse" their existing system, which they think they have priced ok in terms of getting enough of the losers back to play a new business decision has arisen for them to make - do they change their reload bonus altogether and cost themselves more or less, or do they stick with their initial plan and try to weed out the players that make the existing plan too expensive for them? if they change the bonus, maybe the losers will stop playing or go elsewhere; but then their weeding might cause them to lose a bunch of small winnings players that prop up their games they might not have realised it yet but they are walking a very difficult tightrope the big boys can afford to make sweeping changes because an unexpected 20% drop in players, whilst serious, won't affect them catastrophically (apart from loss of huge amounts of pure profit) before they can make further changes to stop a downturn if you've only got a few thousand players in the first place, and probably many who don't even know what else is available before they are "forced" to go looking, a sudden 20% drop in players could result in a knock-on effect killing off your site very quickly to date, reload bonuses have been good news for players, but they might have been more expensive than we realise (not that we care) for some of the sites, and that is maybe why we're seeing so many changes at this time of increase in playing numbers, and will see more until a new balance-point is found to finish, here's an extreme example: for ease of calculations, let's say a site gives $100 bonus for $100 deposit for 700 raked hands - ten bonus whores sit down for a tight game, solely to earn their bonuses - they play 700 low pot, $1 raked hands - they all go home with $30 profit each - the site has made $700 rake - it has cost the site $1000 to fund the game - this site has just lost $300 capital to the enemy |

Re: Bodog lays the smackdown
They need to decide if they want the business of winning players. Can they sustain 24/7 activity if they chase them away by refusing bonuses?
Whichever they decide is fine with me, but they should realize they can't expect a lot of high volume players who have options to play elsewhere to play at their site paying maximum rake and receiving no bonus. |
