It was just on CNBC. Apparently, there is a Colonial pipeline that supplies 75% of the gas to ATL.

They also decided to let gas tanker trailer drive 24/7 to get the gas there. Can you say fireball?

As I posted in the Gas Prices thread, I just saw the gas station next to me go from 2.69/gal to 3.89/gal. Wow.

The picture I saw today of the OMG HIGH!! gas prices had them at like 5 cents a gallon more than the Shell station next to where I work in the U-District.

it will run but what ive been told by my mechanic is that i should not b/c of the car as it is stock (better for the parts/engine/etc) but he told me definately not to because of exshaust alterations (no clue why this matters) and the fact that its super charged

[/ QUOTE ]
The sole reason you need higher octane gas is because it's supercharged. See here.

My drive home today was a mix of amusement and laughter.

Every gas station had lines completely around them and people hollering at each other and honking at each other.

It was quite the spectacle.

The farther away from Atlanta I got, the better the lines were but they were still there.

Good times.

Reminiscent of the gas shortage back in teh day.

I just drove to school, and all I have to say is ditto. Yeah, the prices suck, but people are going absolutely apeshit about it.

Perdue said there is no reason to panic about gas shortages and rising prices. He told reporters that fuel shipments are continuing to arrive at Georgia ports, and that Colonial Pipeline, the largest pipeline distributing fuel into Georgia, expects to be largely operational by the Labor Day weekend.

"There does appear to be some spot shortages in unbranded, spot-purchasing service stations," he said. "We expect that to be a temporary problem.

"There is no reason to panic. There is plenty of gas on the way. The only way we would have problems is if people rush out and try to hoard and try to accumulate gasoline they won't need for a while."

I would link you to the source, but it uses a ] in the address, so it screws up the ubb code.

yeah, I figured as much.

Still, glad I filled up the beast on monday.

Don't have to deal with the idiocy. Plus, if they actually *do* run out, I'll get to work from home. Bonus.

If u havent seen...gas has gone up 50 cents in a matter or hours and they are having to ration it out in some places, what i was told is that most of the oil/gas trucks were hit by the hurricane...and that prices were going to continue to go up. This morning i saw it at $3 when I just went to get gas (because I just found out) it was at $3.50 for me and the owner said it would climb 50 to 70 more cents by tomorrow and that he was shuttin down his pumps at 3pm...let ALONE the gas lines we had to wait in just to get gas...so If u need gas get it now!!! Im sure it will stabilize later..but if ur near empty hope the heads up helped!
Usually gas prices dont matter much to me b/c i HAVE to have it...but if i know its gonna increase in the next few days i fill up now...figured some of u would wanna do the same

Im sure this is the same for much of the south

Im was tempted to use regular

Peachy ... didn't know you lived in Atlanta (I live in Decatur). Thanks for the heads up. I just wish MARTA was a viable option for us.
