I need to learn to calc\' the odds...
I cannot fnid a post about a hold'em odds book that is out there, and I was also looking for a book that would give me the skills to calc' the odds for myself, so that I am not just following a chart blindly.
Anyone know the title to the best hold'em odds book and a good solid statistics book that could teach me the math behind the odds? It have been many years, but math used to be my subject...though I have forgotten way too much.... Thanks! |

Re: I need to learn to calc\' the odds...
Here it is:
Number of cards that make your hand divided by total cards unseen = your odds of making your hand. Odds of completing your 4-flush with 1 card to come: 9 cards remaining of your suit and 46 cards unseen means you have a 9/46 or 19.6% or 1 in 5.1 or 4.1 to 1 against odds of making your flush. If you also have an ace and you want to include your outs to catching a pair of aces, then you have 3 more good cards: 12 remaining out of 46 gives you 12/46 or 26% or 1 in 3.8 or 2.8 to 1 against odds of either making a flush or pairing your ace. There are also a bunch of tables in the back of Super System, as well as several charts in The Intelligent Guide to Texas Hold'Em Poker by Sam Braids. I haven't read that book yet, but it does include several charts with various probabilities and odds. |

I would suggest getting a finite math book, or just looking up poker odds on the internet, google has a few sites that tell you how to do combination functions and stuff.
