I'm sure you'll get a bunch that everyone knows, so I'll give you two that most don't have, but are MUST HAVES for any cinefile:

The Decalogue

Blue
White
Red

(or, The Trois Coleurs trilogy)

All by Krystof Kieslowski.

american pyscho, big lebowski, your friend and neighbors, and lost in translation are the first ones that jump to mind.

maybes include rushmore, spirited away, godfather 1/2, a few others.

there are so many i've bought and watched 0 or 1 times. i don't even have netflix and i manage to stay amused with cable/ondemand 99% of the time when i'm actually in a movie mood. with more ondemand stuff (especially high definition) i won't see much of a reason to own any of it.

i only buy very special cds for car listening, otherwise i just use rhapsody and stream it. if i had satellite radio in my car i doubt i'd care about owning a single cd.

The Fifth Element--superbit edition Best PQ and DD 5.1 sound you will find, a great DVD to demo your system.

[/ QUOTE ]

If you're going to buy Fifth Element, go ahead and get the "Ultimate Edition". It's 2-discs. The first disc is the Superbit DVD. The 2nd disc is extras.

(And, strangely, it's generally slightly cheaper than if you buy the "Superbit" edition.)

I agree. I work for the cable company and have every channel and OnDemand service available. Still, there is rarely anything OnDemand that I'm interested in watching (that I haven't already seen).

I have a Netflix subscription and currently have over 250 discs in my queue. I go through about a dozen discs per month. I love it.

I'm sure I'll watch more OnDemand content when it starts being available in HD.

And I'm nearly positive I won't buy another DVD until HD/Blu Ray hits the stores.
