Where's the "WHO CARES" option?

And by that I mean, does the city of Los Angeles even give a damn? The NFL bent over BACKWARDS to award LA the 32nd franchise over Houston...and LA just couldn't get its [censored] together.

If this happens, I hope it's an existing team...the NFL talent pool is watered down enough as it is - we don't need a 33rd and (then ultimately) 34th team.

Expansion would also ruin the nice symmetry the league has right now with the 8 4-team divisions.

It's bad business for the NFL to put a team in LA. Right now, every team wanting a new stadium just needs to threaten to move to LA. Once there's a team there, that leverage is gone.

FWIW, the Colts new stadium here in Indy is already being built.

Also a fine point. The divisional layout in baseball absolutely blows. Football has the right idea (except I would rather there be 4 8-team divisions, so that there weren't automatic playoff bids to teams like whoever wins the NFC North -- in my scenario, the four divisional winners would at least all be deserving of a bye and home-field and even a playoff berth at all).

So what if a "bad" team wins in a weak division? They still have to play teams outside of the division, and they all have to play each other. And, should a bad team ultimately make it (which has happened many times), shouldn't they just lose their first playoff game? What's the harm in that?

It will take way more than 10 years for the NFL to expand outside the US so much that it warrants two divisions of international teams.
