Default He\'s pushing back at my over-pair

villain is quite the maniac from my other thread:
68/44/2.5

Hero has QQ in BB

3/6, 5-handed
Button limps, SB raises, Hero re-raises, Button calls, SB calls

Flop:
732 (2 diamonds)

SB checks, hero bets, button calls, SB raises, hero re-raises, button folds, SB calls

Turn: 8 (2 spades now):
SB checks, Hero bets, SB raises, Hero 3-bets, SB caps, Hero calls

River: Js
SB bets, hero calls

against a player like this I would think 3-betting the turn is justified. But after back-to-back C/R's I might be reaching.

I think the smooth call is g00t. Sure he is a maniac, but your reasons for slowing down are very sound.

I think that after the SB checkraise again on the turn, you need to call down.

I often find that maniacs are the most predictable people to play against. When they have nothing they push hard, and when they have strong hands, they love to trap. That being said, its entierly possible and rather likely that you have the best hand, so I like the bet on the turn. Once he checkraises, its time to get to showdown.

Best line is to river a Q and raise his ass.

I have read about your downswing and agree that there must be some bad play in there somewhere, but there is no way this type of hand is your big leak. If he has AA, KK or some dumb 2 pair that is just bad luck. You played this hand a little strong, but its definetly not terrible.

GL and if you would like some feedback, I will be on vacation tomorrow and would love to read over some hand histories, just PM me.

Gotta 3bet that turn against a maniac. Hell go for back to back c/r with any piece and sometimes a diamond draw. Looks like the perfect amount of action to me. I'm wondering if I would give him a chance to trifecta me when he checks the river and I think I would.

i like it.
AA,KK and sets has you beat, he could possible 87s too. But i can think of lots of hands that he could play this way that you beat like, 99-JJ, A7s, A8s, flushdraws and i would say there maybe are a few others.

i tried to stove with a kinda crappy range, don't got time to think of a better.

equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 67.2314 % 66.78% 00.45% { QhQs }
Hand 2: 32.7686 % 32.31% 00.45% { 22+, AdKd, AsKs, AdQd, AsQs, AdJd, AsJs, AdTd, AsTs, A9s-A7s, A5s-A3s, Ac2c, Ah2h, As2s, KdQd, KdJd, KdTd, Kd9d, Kd8d, K7s, QdJd, QdTd, Qd9d, JdTd, Jd9d, Td9d, Td8d, 9d8d, 8d7d, 8s7s, 76s }

okay.

thanks guys.

He did indeed have 87 and I still feel the 3-bet on the turn is too much.
He's capable of doing this with less than 2-pair here...but my read (of the non-stats variety) on him was that this probably meant he had something.
I was just pushing back because I was so proud of my precious QQ.

But looking at it again (and his stats) I think it's REALLY hard to go into call-down mode here even with the double c/r.

on the turn cap i start to worry about a big hand(sucks, but they do get sets and 2pairs ).

I think you played it fine.

Ok so now i looksed the results, that sucks but oh well. You had a few hidden outs anyhow.
