Default Poker apparel outside of poker events ie in public places

What are the effects of it? What are the consequences of it? What are your experiences?

No way, not if I wear this t-shirt. Then it's raining vag, esp. if I wear my cool wrap around sunglasses. I'll literally be "all-in."

I have a half-dozen Stars shirts and wear them all the time (I'm even wearing one right now). I choose laziness (doing laundry, or rather not doing laundry) over fashion/style. I actually had a woman come up to me in the grocery store once and start talking to me about playing poker, which was kinda cool/random (woulda been cooler if she was hot) but other than that, nothing...I continue working towards my goal of having a poker shirt for every day of the month and only doing laundry 12 times a year.

In general, wearing T-shirts announcing your hobbies is perceived as dorky. The only acceptable form of this that I can think of is sports attire.

Don't forget music fandom. Those t-shirts are okay.

Wearing clothing that tells people who do a particular thing may limit the number of new contacts you make, but it also attracts people with similar interests. I think it's a wash, really. Most people who give you short shift because you wear a PokerStars t-shirt or something probably would give you the brushoff once they realize you're a poker enthusiast anyway.

Of course, this assumes you're talking about wearing it in a socially acceptable venue. Wearing your Texas Hold 'Em lounging pants to a company party is going to cause you problems for reasons completely unrelated to poker.

And yes, I have Texas Hold 'Em lounging pants. But I only wear them IN the house.

Default don\'t know about wearing apparel, but...

whenever I start talking about poker in public, seems like someone around me has just started playing poker. Teppan grill chef, cleaning crew at work, random people in crowds, everywhere. Anyone else experience this phenomenon? I can only imagine the reaction if I wore a poker shirt or hat. I do think it's cool that the local casinos have ads showing pocket aces instead of blackjack.

I think it's inevitable that you'll have people talk to you about poker. But A. they probably aren't as into it as us and B. people that play poker seriously are not always cool.
