Default Top pair trickiness

Midnight 109

Lost of limping action at this table, villain I had been watching and he hadn't done anything clearly good or bad, though he didn't feel like a great player.

Flop I like my lead as it weeds out the limpers (they would call with a draw though, then I could bet hard a safe turn) and I was probably mucking to the villain if he raised.

But the turn? Any better line? His bet kinda threw me, would have expected an overpair to raise me on the flop or lead the turn a little weaker. Didn't know what to make of it. Anyone lead the turn? If so, how much and what do you do if called?

I considered calling and check/folding to a river push, but if he's bluffing I expected him to fire the rest. What made my final decision was that I liked my chip position and didnt want to commit to a marginal spot that could knock me down under 1k. If I had 4k I might have just set him in on the turn.

Default Re: Top pair trickiness

I think i'd lead out on the turn for 300 and fold to a raise... i dont know anything about 'blocking bets'.. but would this be a situation for one?

check/fold on the turn seems weak though, so i think either a call, or betting out would be better.
