Re: The President of Iraq\'s Message to Americans
It is really kind of moot, the candidates were handpicked, unknown, and the serious opposition boycotted the election.
The casino doesn't have to cheat at roulette, but they seem to always come out on top. And if there are some magnets in the wheel, so much the better. And the house shill will be glad to tell you what a fair and honest game it is. Go ahead, take his word for it. |

So your specific charge is that the votes where counted incorrectly. If you reply yes I'll try to find sources pertaining to that claim. [/ QUOTE ] I believe his charge is <wink, wink>. He has no actual facts, so he has to just make assertions like "Do you really think we'd just roll the dice?" I'm sure Bush would have been crushed if some fiery anti-American was elected and told the US we had to pull out all troops immediately. |

Re: The President of Iraq\'s Message to Americans
You are right. With everything riding on that election, Bush isn't smart or clever enough to even consider rigging it.

Re: The President of Iraq\'s Message to Americans
So the appointed president of Iraq wants American troops to stay in his country to help him kill his opposition? What a surprise.

Re: The President of Iraq\'s Message to Americans
As I said, I was under the belief that the people we didn't like got elected and that the groups we supported largely did poorly.
I suppose one could consider that rigged, but certainly not in our favor. As Cyrus has already pointed out the speech above is just sane public policy from the Iraqi government. The average person on the street may harbor anti-American sentiment and want to exact petty vengence, but as a leader one has to consider the effect an American pull out would have on the country. He doesn't have the luxury or just acting on his feelings. He has to begrudingly accept American involvement because the alternative is civil war. |
