Default 3 Pre flop decisions + a bonus stupid beat

Guys,

Here are three preflop decision from last night. That I struggled with and thought that I would post here.

9c8c in BB , player UTG+2 raises, Player UTG+4 Reraises, fold to me, I fold

KQo in MP, UTG raises, all fold to me, I fold

9c9d in BB, UTG+1 Raises, UTG+ 4 raises, I fold

Did I make good folds? Who calls here? They were at PP 2/4 and 3/6 if that matters.

Oh, and here is a Stupid beat bonus hand on why you should never slow play a straight:

ME - PP 3/6 KQs in LMP, I open raise, BB comes along.
FLOP - ATJ giving me the broadway. I check, call (setting him up for the check raise on the turn trick)
TURN - A (ATJ) - I check, going for the check raise, he bets, but I just call, after thinking "If I raise, he will fold".
RIVER - T (AATJ)- Ain't that great! Now here is the best part - I decide to bet now! Yeah, I know. I of course raises me, and I pay him off to see Ace-rag.

Say hello, to Mr. Dumbass!! Got so cute, I cost myself about 30 bucks!!

Thanks, as always!

PaulF

Your three preflop decisions were fine. As for the slowplayed hand, I have no comment.

At a typical Paradise $2/4 or $3/6 table, I'd fold all three of your pre-flop hands without hesitation.

By the way, I'd also fold the KQs hand if I knew the other guy was going to draw out on you like that. What were you thinking?!?!

The only decision that's even close is the third one, and it's really not that close.

As for your KQs hand...
If he's going to call your preflop raise, he'll certainly go to the turn whether you bet or check-raise. After the turn you're obviously stuck with him. I'm not saying your river play is good (especially on the river), but your play probably didn't cause you to lose anything extra on this particular hand.

In all honesty other then the river bet at the end you didn't lose as much as you could have. Do you think he would have dropped on the flop if you had bet in to him? Do you think he was going to drop his trips on the turn against a bet or check-raise? By the river your flopped nut straight is worth zip but a crying call.

How do you check-call or check-raise the BB from LMP?

Default You are correct! He must have been EP (utgish) not BB!
