Default B&M cardrooms aren\'t the only ones that fill up

Mason's article talks about the pitfalls of a packed cardroom, and states that "unlike the Internet, B&M cardrooms have the potential to fill up." Unfortunately Internet cardrooms can fill up too.

At UltimateBet, for example, there has been only one 2/4 Triple Draw 2-7 table. Sure, the population of players isn't large. But in the past we've had a full 6-player table running and still had three people on the waiting list, with no new 2/4 table available. (Multiple tables are available at 1/2, but not an unlimited number there, either.)

This might be a perfectly reasonable limitation based on reserving server capacity so that all existing tables will be able to run. Or it might be a stupid decision based on flawed thinking about online games. But there is nothing inherent about online gaming that prevents the same sort of issues from arising.

This is a good point. Some of the regulars in the small stakes no-limit forum have been playing some headup matches for microstakes (.01/.02 blinds) on Pokerstars and the limitation on the number of HU tables at that limit has been a real problem.

<hijack>An even more serious (IMO) problem is that many online cardrooms do not put the small blind on the button when there are only two people playing at a larger table (eg, 2 people playing, 4 sitting out at a 6-max table). Party and Stars are guilty of this (though I believe they get the blinds right for when tournament play gets down to heads up). Kudos to Ultimate Bet for never having this problem (the blinds are always correct there regardless of how many people are sitting at the table). </hijack>
